Here’s a round-up of some of what I’ve been feeling latest, brought to you by the magic of Soundcloud, because my WordPress Audio Player has been super buggy lately, hence not posting much.
Big tune forthcoming on Swamp81 by Boddika, who is definitely looking like being one of the best producers of 2011.
One of the biggest tunes to be played all night on the Boiler Room last Tuesday, Jack Dixon – Coconuts, forthcoming on Inhale. Expect yourself to sing ‘badooey badooey badooey’ to yourself for the rest of the week.
Forthcoming on Blunted Robots, one of the biggest tunes of 2010 is still unreleased, and is still tearing up clubs around the UK. Dark Sky is another to look out for in 2011, if you don’t already know all about him!
The ever amazing Julio Bashmore has just dropped another gem, his remix of High Powered Boys’ new EP on Sound Pellegrino. With the loss of Institubes, Sound Pellegrino it set to become a fully fledged label, and another new label, Marble Music, also rises from the ashes. If this release is anything to go on, 2011 will be a good year for the 2 labels!
This last one comes from one of my favourite Dublin DJs/promoters, Marcus, of Ignored Playaz. He dropped this last night before Nguzunguzu at Chewn, and reminded me just how good it was. Peep his next Ignored Playaz night, with the massive line-up of Addison Groove & Jam City! Even page here.
I mentioned Battle For Middle You a month or two ago, and it’s been one of my favourite tracks of recent times. Today, the remix package came out, and it’s just as strong as the original EP. The A-side is a remix of Battle For Middle You by Ramadanman, under the alias Maurice Donovan. On the B, Midland turns Ask Yourself into a more housey affair. Pick up the EP here.

It may look like I’ve kind of fallen off the horse a bit, blog wise, but you’d be wrong. Or at least partly. Even though I haven’t posted in 5 days, I’ve been readying some lovely stuff which is now on it’s way, including a load of guest mixes from excellent people, the results of my Top 20 Tracks of 2010 Poll, and some cheeky roundups of 2010. So don’t worry.
For now though, I thought I’d pick out some of my favourites from the tracks doing the rounds on the blogosphere at the moment, and use the time to show you some of my favourite blogs.
In a roundup of the top labels of 2010, Electric Zoo reminded me of this gem, which I’ve never posted before, even though it’s one of my favourite tracks of the year. Quality track, and quality roundup.
Truants, who continually impress me, did just that with their latest installment of their Sunday’s Best feature. First they pull out this beautiful edit of one of my favourite classic funk tracks, Let It Whip (I’ve included the original because it’s that good), then this great remix of Jamie Woon’s wonderful Night Air, and because they’re that good, they get three tracks in here, the last being the only ‘epic 320 bang0r’ in this list, Ado’s latest offering Multiply Me. In summary, there’s constantly great music on there, so bookmark it now if you haven’t already.
Louis Louis, great blogger, great promoter, great guy, and all round good egg gives us Vhyce’s lastest work, a bouncy remix of American Royalty with Vhyce’s signature sound stamped all over it. Mele also gets a mention with his free track I Swear Down, which is swarming all over the internet at the moment, as it should be.
Finally, Kid City Blog (after announcing that Kid City as we know it is no more) give us this amazing unreleased gem by Julio Bashmore. Due out on January 10th, I’m very very excited for this release.
