Money is Sweeter than Honey

Gnanmankoudji Horny Monster Mix house tech-house disco Laurent Garnier

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, it’s been a busy week, but I do have a few gems I picked up from BLOC. The first, a highlight of Laurent Garnier’s LBS live show, the second, a track that Joy Orbison played that took me a while to find, and the last I don’t quite remember who played, but it was written down in my phone, and I’m definitely happy it was. Enjoy.

Also, make sure to check the blog in the next few days, because I’ve an exclusive interview with Munchi coming up!

Laurent Garnier – Gnanmankoudji (Horny Monster Mix)

C.J. Bolland – Sugar Is Sweeter (Armand Van Helden Drum ‘N’ Bass Mix)

Aloe Blacc – I Need A Dollar (Tensnake Remix)

Tech-House Thursday

The XX Stars UNER revision remix tech house

I know you might think it’s Saturday, but in fact, I’m writing this on a Thursday and giving it a post-dated publish time, seeing as I’ll be at BLOC! Anyway, I’ve a real treat for you. Two very nice tech-house remixes I came across today. One masterpiece of a remix of James Blake, and one of the nicest XX remixes I’ve ever heard. Grab a remix of the XX but the download limit hits! Enjoy.

James Blake – CMYK (eLDOKO Remix)

The XX – Stars (UNER revision)

Sebbo – Elephanze Ce Danze

Tech House

I’m not sure what it is about this track that makes it so good, but after hearing the Wet Your Self DJs playing it in Pod the other week I’ve spent hours searching to find it, and was not disappointed hearing the full track. The massive snare lines are big, and sound even bigger in the club. Listen below, and promptly buy it, and the rest of the release, here.

One More Throw of the Dice

Forward/Slash blog

You may have noticed that on this blog I don’t care much for when music is released. A lot of blog only post new releases, and I respect them for keeping up to date, but for me, good music is good music, and it being a newly released is of no benefit. I find unearthing old, forgotten tunes and giving them a new life much more satisfying than playing recent bangers that everyone’s talking about. The two tracks below are two examples. Two tunes I had sitting in my iTunes for years, which I only recently finally bought in full quality. One is two years old, and one is nearly ten years old, but they’re both great.

Traffic Signs – The Big Fake

Kiki – Mogadishu

Frankie Grimes – House/Techno Mix

Dublin Forward/Slash

So Gianni from the wonderful Dolce Merda asked me to do up a mix for him, and my Dolce Merda. You can check that out here.

I had wanted for a while to do a mix of the much deeper stuff I’ve been listening to lately, so I put two and two together, and here it is. The mixing is really simple, because I wanted the focus to be on the tunes more than anything else. I really love these tracks, so I hope you enjoy the mix.
