I’ve had this EP for a few weeks, but kept forgetting to post it. It definitely deserves a late post all to itself though. It’s been a busy year for Cajmere, with his classic Perculator getting a batch of new remixes, and Brighter Days getting a re-release with remixes both putting him back in the spotlight. He follows this up with a brilliant collaboration with Gene Farris, the two track Chicago EP. You can pick it up here. The a-side, The Music Box, is a really nice disco groove, with 90s style drums and vocals, and has been a favourite of mine recently. The b-side The Warehouse, is much darker, a lot more fitting to getting played in say, a warehouse. It chugs along building and building, until breaking into a slightly acid style industrial groove.
